Biography
Alexandr has been working since 1998. Originally from Novosibirsk, since 2007 based in Moscow and working all over Russia, European Union and Asia. Since 2022 based between RK and EU.

In his work, Alexandr Andriyashkin focuses on finding a balance between research, quality and simplicity.

In 1998 he became a member of the horizontal art group 'Wampeter' (Novosibirsk) with focus on contemporary dance performances, physical theatre and street actions. The group existed until 2006 and has performed in many cities in Russia, as well as in Sweden, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Moldova and the UK.
Since 2005 he started to work as a freelancer and guest choreographer. As a performer he worked in projects in Sweden, Italy, Slovenia and Russia.

In 2007 he moved to Moscow and started to actively collaborate with the Moscow scene, mainly associated with the Centre of Contemporary Dance and Performance 'TSEKH'.

In 2009 he was selected for the DanceWeb program, Impulstanz (Austria) and the Dance and Theatre Lab at Jacob’s Pillow (USA). In 2011 he was selected for the programme 'Siwic — Voice and Movement' (Switzerland).

In 2012 his solo 'I'll Try' was shortlisted for the Aerowaves Festival and presented at a number of festivals in Europe and Russia.
From 2011 to the present he has worked with drama theatres as a choreographer, movement director, body consultant and teacher.
Has worked with such theatres as Masterskaya Brusnikina, Meyerhold Centre, Doc Theatre, Theatre of Nations, Praktika Theatre, Moscow Art Theater, Taganka Theatre, Mayakovsky Theatre, Pushkin Theatre, Sovremennik, Satirikon, Yermolova Theatre, Electroteatr, Stary Dom, Theatre on Spasskaya and many others.

Also explores in his author’s theatrical works the genre of participation theatre, where the main actor is the audience.

In 2017, his production of 'the Marusya' won the Golden Mask Award (Russia's main theatre prize).

Over time he has gradually expanded his activities and currently works in the fields of theatre practice, contemporary dance, performance, contemporary art, textual work, curation and consulting.

Finding interest in multitasking, constant change of artistic optics and the fundamental absence of a single aesthetic style, Alexandr cooperates both with large institutions and implements independent projects.

As an author and as a performer he has presented his works in Russia, Germany, Austria, England, USA, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other countries.

Alexandr sees educational activities as an equally important aspect of his work. Gives regular classes and workshops in performative practices, contemporary dance, improvisation and physical theatre for both professionals and amateurs.

He’s been teaching in Russia, Germany, Sweden, USA, Austria, Finland, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Moldova and others.

/ 2000−2004 Centre of Arts at NSU: contemporary dance and contact improvisation

/ 2002−2006 Centre of Contemporary Dance in Novosibirsk and the studio "Promotion": contemporary dance, physical theatre

/ 2007−2011 Youth School of Arts: contemporary dance

/ 2009—2022 Centre of Contemporary Dance and Performance "Tsekh": contemporary dance

/ 2014—2022 Moscow Art Theatre School: acting through presence, movement and performative practices.
Worked as a guest teacher in dance companies (such as Ballet Moscow and others) and body teacher for theatre companies.

Amongst other things developed a module for the Department of Social Theatre at GITIS on the application of the tools of contemporary dance in society; conducted a module on performative practices at the Higher School of Economics and Design (theatre and performance); designed a program of practical social studies for high school students of the Mumi-Troll school.

Since 2020 he has been developing a gentle method of working with the body JUST. bodywork, made for online practice and requiring no special training.

Actively involved in educational activities, giving lectures, taking part in open discussions, acting as a curator and considering teaching as an important and integral part of his artistic practice.

Seeks to maintain a volume between laboratory work, commissioned work, teaching and his own authorial ideas.
